In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica and across the Caribbean, the U.S. State Department has announced the deployment of a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) along with several Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) units. The teams will “work with affected countries and local communities to assess needs and coordinate emergency response efforts” in partnership with interagency, international, and military organizations throughout the Caribbean region.
