The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed to AFP that it is conducting operations to “contain a coup” in the West African nation of Benin. Fighter jets — likely JF-17s — are carrying out targeted strikes against military leaders and soldiers backing the coup, in accordance with the “mandate and protocols” of ECOWAS and the ECOWAS Standby Force (ESF).
