Iran says Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi…

Iran says Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone with Russia’s Sergei Lavrov to review regional diplomacy, nuclear negotiations, and coordination at the United Nations.

According to Tehran, Araghchi updated Lavrov on his recent outreach to regional counterparts and emphasized the need for accelerated political dialogue among neighboring states. He reaffirmed Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA and rejected Western “snapback” claims as baseless, urging the agency to remain impartial.

Russia welcomed Iran’s push for a regional consultation framework and expressed readiness to deepen coordination. Lavrov reiterated Moscow’s stance on Palestinian self-determination and criticized actions that undermine Palestinian rights.

Both ministers agreed to coordinate their positions ahead of the upcoming IAEA Board meeting and also discussed bilateral cooperation and consular matters.
