EU Moves to End Russian Gas Imports by 2027

EU ambassadors have endorsed a plan to phase out all Russian gas imports, with LNG to be halted by the end of 2026 and pipeline deliveries to cease by September 2027. The proposal still requires approval from EU ministers and Parliament, but it is expected to pass despite objections from Hungary and Slovakia. Russian gas now makes up just 12% of EU imports, down from 45% in 2022.
