The Turkish Ministry of National Defense has announced that a MIM‑104 Patriot surface-to-air missile system from NATO will be deployed to Malatya Province in southeastern Turkey.

The deployment will take place near Kürecik Radar Station, a NATO early-warning radar site designed to detect ballistic missile launches. The radar has reportedly been used in recent days to help identify, track, and intercept at least two ballistic missiles fired by Iran over Turkish territory.
