Bloomberg reports that Russia reduced oil drilling activity in 2025 to its lowest level in three years, with 29,140 kilometers drilled—down 3.4% from 2024. Activity fell by roughly 16% in December alone.

January crude production averaged 9.246 million barrels per day, about 328,000 barrels below the country’s OPEC+ quota, while stored Urals crude volumes climbed to around 140 million barrels.
