Donald Trump announced that Markwayne Mullin, a U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, will become the next Secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security, effective March 31, 2026.

The current Secretary, Kristi Noem, will transition to the role of Special Envoy for the “Shield of the Americas,” a new security initiative in the Western Hemisphere set to be announced in Doral, Florida.
