President Donald J. Trump addressed reporters about Iran earlier while aboard Air Force One en route from Joint Base Andrews to Palm Beach, Florida.
Asked whether he had made a final decision on Iran, Trump said he could not disclose that information, noting that “very big, powerful ships” are moving toward the region. He added that he hopes Iran chooses to negotiate an acceptable deal.
When questioned about reports that Saudi Arabia’s defense minister warned that backing off a strike would embolden Tehran, Trump responded that opinions vary. He said a negotiated agreement that ensures Iran has no nuclear weapons is possible and urged Tehran to pursue that path, adding that Iran is “seriously talking” with the United States, though he is unsure how it will ultimately end.
