Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has been given 48 hours by Justice Alexandre de Moraes to respond to investigators.

He is being pressed to explain the breakdown of court-ordered measures, his alleged escape plans, and reported connections with U.S. allies in a coup plot.

Police say they discovered a draft asylum request to Argentina during a raid on his residence, just days earlier.

“The evidence found indicates that the former president was in possession of a document that could enable his flight to Argentina, particularly after the Federal Police launched an investigation confirming the existence of criminal acts aimed at violently abolishing the democratic rule of law, carried out by a criminal organization,” the PF wrote in its report.
