Leo Terrell, U.S. Department of Justice:

“The terrorist who held Almog Meir Jan captive in Gaza for eight months turned out to be an Al Jazeera journalist—and his father, who helped keep him imprisoned, was a doctor.

Almog told me that when hostages were first dragged into Gaza, civilians threw objects at them and tried to attack. The terrorists kept them away from the public to prevent lynchings—since hostages were more valuable alive.

Not a single Gazan civilian has stepped in to help save a hostage. Even those whose roles are to protect, heal, or report truth have been complicit.

How can the world look away from this?”
