Pentagon Confirms Syria Force Reduction and Base Consolidation:

The U.S. Department of Defense has formally announced a strategic drawdown and consolidation of American forces in Syria. Troops under the Combined Joint Task Force—Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) will be repositioned to a select number of key locations within the country.

Despite the reduction, the Pentagon emphasized that the mission to defeat ISIS (D-ISIS) will continue uninterrupted. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) remains committed to supporting coalition operations aimed at degrading and eliminating ISIS elements in the region. The statement also urged the international community to assist with addressing the humanitarian and security challenges posed by the thousands of ISIS-affiliated detainees and displaced individuals still present in Syria.
