During a visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced a new aid package for Ukraine valued at approximately $5.7 billion. The package will focus on developing Ukraine's domestic weapons manufacturing capabilities, particularly for long-range munitions capable of striking targets deep within Russia. Later, the German Defense Ministry elaborated that the aid includes cooperation in weapons production, air-defense systems, small arms, and funding for satellite communications (Starlink), in partnership with Germany.
