The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada and Supreme Court Chief Abdul Hakim Haqqani, accusing them of crimes related to the persecution of women.

This development comes shortly after Russia became the first country to officially recognize the Taliban’s government in Afghanistan.
