According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Trump is considering imposing new sanctions and economic measures on Russia this week, as his frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to mount. The tensions stem from Putin’s persistent delays in peace negotiations and ongoing missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, President Trump confirmed he is “absolutely” considering additional sanctions, declaring that President Putin has “gone absolutely CRAZY!” and adding, “He’s killing a lot of people — I don’t know what the hell happened to him.”

This unusually sharp rhetoric from Trump toward Russia and Putin has been escalating for some time, further intensified by a recent phone call between the two leaders. During the call, Trump was unable to persuade Putin to agree even to a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine. Following the conversation, Trump reportedly told Ukrainian President Zelensky and other European leaders that he doubts Putin truly wants peace or an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
