Scott Bessent, U.S. Treasury Secretary, said a possible postponement of the planned meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping is being considered amid the ongoing war with Iran.

Bessent emphasized that any delay would not be tied to pressure on China over the Strait of Hormuz.

“If the meeting were postponed, it would have nothing to do with the Chinese making a commitment regarding the Strait of Hormuz.”
