The Indian-owned, Cameroon-flagged liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker M/T FALCON was reportedly attacked by an “unknown actor” earlier today in the Gulf of Aden while carrying a full load of LPG from Iran’s Assaluyeh terminal to the Houthi-controlled port of Ras Isa, Yemen. The attack triggered a massive fire onboard, prompting distress calls that were answered by the M/T MEDA, which rescued 24 of the vessel’s 26 crew members — including 23 Indians and one Ukrainian.

The MEDA, now under escort by the Greek frigate Spetsai (F-453), is en route to Djibouti with the survivors. Meanwhile, EU Naval Forces continue search-and-rescue operations for the two missing crewmembers in the vicinity of the FALCON.
