According to Fox Business, a deal for an American company or group of investors to purchase the social media app TikTok from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance is now “off the table” despite the Executive Order last Saturday by U.S. President Trump extending the deadline of the “TikTok Ban” by 75 days, until June 19, 2025. A deal was said to have been close on Wednesday of last week, but was totally upended by the recent tariffs announced by President Trump against China; with a future deal to prevent TikTok’s ban expected to not be pursued due to the escalating trade war now been the United States and China.
