According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and despite protests to the contrary from Iranian decision-makers, U.S.-Iranian talks tomorrow in Oman will be direct talks instead of indirect talks using Omani decision-makers as intermediaries.
So what?
The nature of the upcoming talks have been a point of contention as of late, with unnamed U.S. officials saying earlier this week that White House Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff would not attend said talks if they were not direct. It’s highly likely that direct talks between the two delegations will take place but will still be denied by Iranian decision-makers to save face.
