The Russian state media outlet, TASS, has published what it claims is Russia’s latest “peace proposal,” presented today to the Ukrainian delegation in Istanbul. The demands are even more extreme than previous Russian proposals. Key conditions reportedly include:
• Complete withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia within 30 days of a ceasefire
• International recognition of Crimea, Donbas, and “Novorossiya” as Russian territory
• Ukrainian neutrality
• National elections in Ukraine followed by the signing of a peace treaty
• A ban on the redeployment of Ukrainian troops, except for withdrawal purposes
• A prohibition on nuclear weapons within Ukraine
• A ban on Western military aid and intelligence support
