Reza Pahlavi, son of the Shah overthrown during the 1979 Islamic Revolution, issued a statement declaring the end of the Islamic Republic and calling for a nationwide uprising to hasten the regime’s collapse.

“All that remains is a united national uprising to bring this nightmare to an end (…) may I join you soon,” he wrote.
