According to a confidential report released today by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran has covertly expanded its stockpile of uranium enriched to 60% or higher, surpassing 900 pounds—an increase of 295 pounds since the agency’s last assessment in February. Uranium enriched to 60% is just a technical step away from weapons-grade material suitable for use in a nuclear weapon. The report also confirmed that Iran previously conducted undeclared nuclear activities involving enriched material at three separate sites across the country, likely as part of a covert, structured nuclear program that continued until the early 2000s.
