Overnight, the passenger vessel Conscience, part of a Freedom Flotilla transporting aid from Tunisia to Gaza, was attacked by two OWA-type UAVs approximately 14 nautical miles northeast of Malta. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew, and onboard fires were contained after roughly four hours.
Speculation online quickly pointed to Israel as the likely perpetrator. However, Israel does not possess any OWA-class UAVs with the range to reach the vessel from Israeli territory. Additionally, the Israeli military lacks UAVs with aerial refueling capabilities or drone mothership systems capable of deploying other drones at such distances.
Given these limitations, it is improbable that Israel carried out this strike. Based on current capabilities and geographic proximity, the most likely origin of the UAVs is Libya.
