Diplomatic and security staff from the U.S. Venezuela Affairs Unit, which has operated out of Colombia since 2019, traveled to Caracas on Friday alongside Acting U.S. Ambassador to Colombia John McNamara to conduct an initial assessment of whether operations at the U.S. Embassy in the Venezuelan capital could be resumed in phases, officials told CNN.
