The Wagner Group announced today that it has concluded its mission in Mali and will be withdrawing from the country, following more than three and a half years of operations that began in late 2021. Responsibility for Wagner’s activities in Mali and throughout Western and Central Africa will now be assumed by the Africa Corps, a Russian government-aligned paramilitary force known for its involvement in human rights violations and war crimes.
