Republican Representative Ralph Norman of South Carolina has introduced legislation to award the Congressional Gold Medal—the nation’s highest civilian honor—to Tim Kennedy, a Green Beret and MMA fighter who recently admitted to falsely claiming he received the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, along with several others. The bill recognizes their roles in the 2021 evacuation of Afghanistan, during which over 17,000 people were successfully evacuated from Taliban-controlled territory.
