U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum claimed that Venezuelan gold had recently been transferred to the United States, while praising Donald Trump’s role in the country’s political changes.

“On Friday, there was $100 million of gold that came from Venezuela to the United States.
The people of Venezuela are gonna be putting up a statue of Trump as a great liberator.”

Recent reports indicate the U.S. government has authorized certain transactions involving Venezuelan gold and has been working with Venezuela’s state-owned mining company Minerven as part of a broader push to access the country’s mineral resources.
