According to Reuters, Japan could consider deploying its military for minesweeping operations in the Strait of Hormuz—a key route for global oil shipments—if a ceasefire is reached in the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Speaking on a Fuji TV program, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said that while the idea is purely hypothetical, minesweeping could be considered if a full ceasefire were established and naval mines posed a threat to navigation.
