Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna has officially referred Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to the Department of Justice for potential perjury. The referral alleges that Powell made false statements under oath to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, as well as to other federal officials, concerning the $2.5 billion renovation of the Marriner S. Eccles Federal Reserve Board Building in Washington, D.C., which began in 2022.
