Following the release of underwhelming job growth figures for July—just 73,000 new jobs added—along with downward revisions of 250,000 jobs for May and June combined, President Trump announced on Truth Social that he has dismissed Dr. Erika McEntarfer, the Biden-appointed Commissioner of Labor Statistics. Trump accused McEntarfer of manipulating employment data prior to the election to improve Vice President Kamala Harris’s chances. He also took aim at Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, saying he “should be put out to pasture.”
