The U.S. Treasury Department’s lifting of sanctions on Syria tonight also removes all U.S. sanctions previously imposed on Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Interior Minister Anas Khattab, both of whom formerly served as commander and deputy commander of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
