At least two firefighters have been confirmed killed in an ambush on Canfield Mountain near Coeur d’Alene in northern Idaho, with several other first responders injured. The shooter or shooters remain at large and are still actively firing at law enforcement from elevated positions on the mountain.

According to authorities, the assailants are believed to be wearing camouflage and armed with long rifles. While at least one gunman has been confirmed, officials say there may be additional suspects involved. The situation remains active as the search and response continue.
