Venezuelan oil shipped to China is being rebranded as Brazilian oil to evade U.S. sanctions.

Traders reclassified over $1 billion worth of Venezuelan oil shipments to China as Brazilian crude last year, according to two tanker-tracking firms, company documents, and four traders, as reported by Reuters.

No Brazilian agencies or companies have been linked to the scheme. Only Brazil’s name is being used in the operation.
