The Trump Administration has asked Israel to halt its ongoing strikes against the Syrian Army and Security Forces in the Suwayda Governorate of Southwestern Syria, which Israel claimed were to prevent the “massacre” of the Druze minority in Syria, whose militias are actively fighting against both government and tribal forces in and around Suwayda. According to a U.S. official who spoke with Axios, Damascus had informed Israel it was sending tanks and troops to Suwayda in order to restore order and control the clashes between the Bedouin and Druze, and that this was not hostile directed action towards Israel, despite this, Israel decided to launch strikes against the Syrian Army in support of the Druze. Israel has promised to halt any further strikes as of Tuesday.
