1. Jamaica: Seek shelter immediately. Damaging winds and torrential rain tonight and Monday will bring catastrophic, life-threatening flash flooding and widespread landslides ahead of potentially devastating winds Monday night into Tuesday morning. Severe infrastructure damage, prolonged power and communication outages, and isolation of communities are expected. A life-threatening storm surge and large, destructive waves are forecast along portions of the southern coast Monday night and Tuesday morning.
2. Haiti and the Dominican Republic: Catastrophic, life-threatening flash flooding and landslides are expected across southwestern Haiti and southern areas of the Dominican Republic through midweek. In Haiti, severe infrastructure damage and community isolation are likely. Although winds have temporarily eased on the Tiburon Peninsula, they are expected to strengthen again across much of western Haiti on Tuesday.
3. Eastern Cuba: Life-threatening storm surge is expected along parts of the southern coast of eastern Cuba late Tuesday and Tuesday night. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall will bring life-threatening, potentially catastrophic flash flooding and landslides beginning Monday. Preparations should be completed as quickly as possible.
4. Southeast Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos: Monitor Hurricane Melissa closely. The risk of significant storm surge, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall is increasing for Tuesday and Wednesday. Watches are likely to be issued early Monday.
