Two years ago, on October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a brutal surprise attack against the State of Israel—kidnapping, murdering, and assaulting over a thousand people, and injuring many more. In the time since, Israel has severely weakened Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, while inflicting significant damage on the Houthis in Yemen and their backers in Iran. The resulting conflict has claimed and wounded tens of thousands across the Middle East, including numerous civilians and Israeli servicemembers.
As negotiations continue in Egypt over the release of the remaining 48 hostages and the potential withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces from Gaza, the world must remain resolute: Hamas can never be allowed to carry out such an atrocity again—nor should it ever regain control of the Gaza Strip.
