The EU is channeling over $2.1 billion (€1.9 billion) from profits of frozen Russian assets to purchase weapons and ammunition for Ukraine. About €1 billion will bolster Ukraine’s defense industry, while €900 million will be used for weapons procurement.
Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service, stated:
"Last week, contracts were signed in Lviv, enabling investment in Ukraine’s advanced defense sector, including drone and missile production."
"Over the next two weeks, we will allocate an additional €900 million to acquire weapons and ammunition for Ukraine."
