Earlier today (Monday), several tanks were detected moving between al-Mazra‘ah and Sami’, heading toward As Suwayda in southern Syria. In response, the IDF conducted airstrikes on the tanks to prevent their advance.

According to the IDF, the presence of these military assets in southern Syria could pose a threat to Israel. "The IDF will not permit the formation of a military threat along its northern border and will take action to prevent it," the statement read. The IDF added that it is closely monitoring developments in the region.

Following the Israeli strikes, Syria’s Foreign Ministry released a statement urging nations to respect Syrian sovereignty and refrain from supporting separatist rebel groups. While the statement did not directly name Israel, it emphasized that all military affairs, including weapons control, must remain under the authority of the Syrian state.
