“If Trump is bluffing, he’s going to get hit with a six,” says Lula about tariff hike

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva referenced the card game truco on Thursday (24) while commenting on the tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on Brazilian imports.

During an event in the state of Minas Gerais, Lula said Trump has set a deadline for Brazil to respond to the tariff announcement — warning that if no answer is given by the first of the month, a 50% tariff will be imposed.

“So what’s happening? He gave us until the first. If we don’t respond by then, he’ll slap a 50% tax on our exports. I’ll tell you something: I’m not from Minas, but I’m good at truco, and if he’s bluffing, he’s going to get hit with a six. If he’s bluffing, he’s going to get hit with a six,” Lula said.
