Mohammad-Javad Larijani, a senior advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, publicly threatened the assassination of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump in a statement issued today. Larijani suggested Trump could be targeted by a drone strike at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, saying: “Trump has done something that means he can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago. As he lies there with his stomach to the sun, a small drone might hit him in the navel. It’s very simple.”
The threat comes amid rising tensions following claims from an online platform called “Blood Pact,” which is believed to be affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). On Tuesday, the platform said it had raised over $40 million for Trump’s assassination and called on religious groups in Iran and abroad to stage demonstrations in front of Western embassies and in public squares in support of Ayatollah Khamenei.
