Following the U.S. refusal to ease or lift existing sanctions on Iran—and a strongly worded warning from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth accusing Tehran of continuing to arm the Houthi militants in Yemen—Iran has announced the postponement of this weekend’s nuclear negotiations and Friday’s scheduled meeting with the E3. In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry cited what it called the “contradictory approach of American decision-makers” and a “lack of goodwill and seriousness in pursuing diplomatic efforts.” Hegseth had warned, “You know very well what the U.S. military is capable of — and you were warned. You will pay the consequence at a time and place of our choosing.”
