Spain has formally recalled its ambassador from Israel as tensions between the two nations escalate, with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announcing Monday a permanent ban on arms and ammunition sales to Israel as part of measures to “stop the genocide” in Gaza. In response, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar accused the Spanish government of “antisemitism” and barred Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Díaz and Youth Minister Sira Rego from entering Israel, citing their “support for terrorism and violence against Israelis.”
