When asked why he’s departing the G7 Summit ahead of schedule, President Trump responded, “I need to get back… it’s very important. You’ve probably seen what I’ve seen—I have to return as soon as possible. I wish I could stay through tomorrow, but they understand. This is serious.”
The State Department has also confirmed that Secretary of State and Acting National Security Advisor Marco Rubio will be returning to Washington, D.C. tonight alongside the President. Both are expected to participate in a National Security Council meeting at the White House.
