Despite earlier claims that the attack came from the Persian Gulf, the Wall Street Journal now reports that last Tuesday’s Israeli Air Force strike on Hamas leaders in Doha was launched from the northern Red Sea. Twelve Israeli jets—eight F-15s and four F-35s—fired several air-launched ballistic missiles that traveled through space over Saudi Arabia before hitting the Qatari capital.

According to senior U.S. officials briefed on the mission, Israel only alerted the U.S. military minutes before the strike, without specifying the target. Space-based sensors operated by the U.S. Space Force then picked up the missiles’ infrared signatures and trajectory, confirming Doha as the destination.

U.S. Central Command relayed the information to Gen. Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who notified the White House. President Trump ordered Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to warn Qatar, but by the time the message arrived, the missiles had already struck. Qatar said its first notice came about ten minutes after impact.
