An updated map shows the advances of anti-Assad groups in Syria as of Saturday, December 7, around 1:00 PM local time.
• Green represents the main opposition groups, including HTS jihadists and dissident forces from the SNA, directly supported by Turkey.
• Yellow marks areas controlled by the Kurdish YPG, supported by the U.S.
• Red indicates territories still under the control of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
Russian bases are located along the Mediterranean coast, meaning that if Homs falls, the approximately 3,000 Russian troops, two dozen aircraft, and several warships stationed there will be cut off from Damascus.
As shown on the map, the capital Damascus is now under direct attack, with videos confirming that towns just 5 km away are already in the hands of anti-Assad forces.
