Last year, during an undercover operation, the FBI recorded Tom Homan—currently the White House Border Czar—accepting $50,000 in cash after suggesting he could help undercover agents, posing as business executives, secure government contracts under the incoming Trump Administration, according to multiple sources familiar with the investigation and internal documents reviewed by MSNBC.
The FBI and Justice Department had initially planned to monitor whether Homan would follow through on his alleged promise once he assumed his role as the nation’s top immigration official. However, the case stalled shortly after President Donald J. Trump took office in January and was only recently closed by FBI Director Kash Patel.
In a joint statement, FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said: “This matter originated under the previous administration and underwent a full review by FBI agents and Justice Department prosecutors. They found no credible evidence of criminal wrongdoing. Department resources must remain focused on real threats to the American people, not baseless investigations. Consequently, the investigation has been closed.”
