The CSTO summit, the military alliance led by Russia, has begun in Astana, Kazakhstan. The organization is facing harsh criticism after being accused by Armenia of failing at its most fundamental duty: protecting an ally.

According to Nikol Pashinyan, the Armenian Prime Minister, Russia betrayed his country by not mobilizing the alliance to prevent Azerbaijan from launching new attacks in 2023. For this reason, Armenia has frozen its participation in the alliance and is not attending this summit.
