Despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, U.S. military operations against narco-terror groups in Latin America are continuing.

The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) released footage and announced that forces operating under Joint Task Force–Southern Spear conducted a strike on March 8 against a suspected narco-trafficking vessel in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

According to SOUTHCOM, the operation was carried out at the direction of Francis L. Donovan, commander of the command. Intelligence reportedly indicated the vessel was traveling along known drug-smuggling routes and transporting illicit narcotics.

The strike destroyed the vessel and killed six suspected narco-terrorists, all believed by U.S. officials to be members of a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO).
