Several recently published satellite images from Reuters show ongoing U.S. military preparations at commercial airports and airbases across the Caribbean, as the likelihood of further escalation in the region continues to grow. The photos, taken as recently as October 20, reveal construction work to expand taxiways at the former Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Puerto Rico, along with more than a dozen tents set up to accommodate U.S. servicemembers.
Additional imagery shows new construction at Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, including tarmac expansions to support the future deployment of additional military aircraft. The photos also reveal the establishment of a temporary site now hosting a U.S. Air Force AN/TPS-75 air search radar system.
