⚡️An article by the publication Stars and Stripes outlined some of the possibilities for a shift from Europe to the Indo-Pacific championed by some of the new picks for senior positions in the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). It’s important to note that all of these concepts came before these individuals were tapped for senior positions within the DOD.
The article focuses on Austin Dahmer, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Strategy) and Alexander Velez-Green, Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy and the near $70 billion in cuts that Dahmer has proposed for the U.S. Army, with a focus on slimming down the U.S. force posture in Europe in order to clear increased funding for both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force—two branches that most can agree will play a pivotal role in maintaining U.S. interests in the Indo-Pacific theater of competition.
