Speaking earlier today on CBS News’ Face the Nation, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi said recent negotiations are moving closer to a deal under which Iran would relinquish its stockpile of highly enriched uranium. The remaining material would be down-blended to low levels and converted—under international supervision—into fuel for civilian nuclear power.

Al Busaidi, who met Friday with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and other senior officials, said there is emerging consensus that the uranium would be reduced “to the lowest level possible” and transformed into reactor fuel in a way that cannot be reversed. Technical discussions on implementing the arrangement are expected to begin Monday.
